Lateral Leg Raises to Increase Balance

Lateral leg raises can help you boost your balance and prevent falls.

Ray, a personal trainer focused on balance and mobility, shares how to do a lateral leg raise.

You can do a lateral leg raise on any stable surface - like a countertop - to boost your balance and prevent falls.

To do this exercise:

Start with your hands on the countertop.

Put your hips slightly back, bend your knees slightly, and then laterally raise your leg and gently bring it back down to the floor.

We want to work one leg at a time and aim for eight repetitions each. Keep it slow on the way down to avoid rushing.
